The concerns of PR gurus over the wisdom of Frankie Dettori entering the Celebrity Big Brother household may be well-founded. Frankie is Britain’s best-loved jockey, despite his recent drug indiscretions that have seen him banned from the sport of kings for a six-month period, but involvement with the anything-for-a-laugh reality show may irrevocably damage his reputation with the public and the racing industry.
In the past few days alone, Frankie has dressed in drag on the instigation of X Factor star Rylan Clark, donning a skirt, tight top and heels and accessorising with make-up, jewellery and hat. Now, under the direction of Big Brother, he is acting the part of a tyrannical dictator, complete with bodyguards and a ludicrous uniform (great hat for the winter, though!). With a secret revolution in the offing, his tenure as dictator is likely to be short, thankfully, but there is no doubt that further ludicrous but entertaining stunts are planned by Big Brother, all of which will take Frankie further from his career as championship jockey to that of entertainer.
When Frankie entered the Big Brother house, he was highly fancied to win the show but his position with the public has now slipped. Although he is not on the eviction list for tonight’s hour-long eviction show, he looks increasingly unlikely to be the overall winner. Frankie’s buddy, Rylan Clark, remains favourite to leave the Big Brother House as winner, with odds of 4/7 from bookmaker PaddyPower. His other pal, former footballer Razor Ruddock, has now pushed Frankie into third place in the rankings, with odds of 6/1 that Razor will win on offer from bookmaker BetFred.
The housemates facing eviction tonight include glamour model Lacey Banghard, former Steps star Claire Richards, Rylan Clark (a shoo-in to stay) and US reality stars Heidi and Spencer (known as Speidi). Lacey’s personal habits of excessive burping, her vacuity and daft remarks have not endeared her to the rest of the household and indeed Heidi has been so incensed by Lacey’s gratuitous nudity that she has threatened a fight! Lacey is likely to be voted out, with bookmaker Bet365 offering odds of 4/9 that she will go tonight.
Claire Richards may outstay the eviction but her lack of demonstrable personality, her grubby dressing gown and her poor performance of her own song in a Celebrity Big Brother task may mean that she will be leaving the household soon. She is second favourite to leave just now, with odds of 5/2 with Speidi favoured to stay. Heidi and Spencer are alienated from the rest of the household, at their own behest, and the dramatic tension of this situation adds greatly to the viewers’ enjoyment of the reality show. Speidi say they are eager to go, adding for good measure that they “hate” all the other housemates but we hope that they are made to endure the show for a good while more as they make painfully good viewing!
The eviction show starts tonight on Channel 5 at 10pm.
