Leading bookmaker Coral have been hit with losses of over £100k following a major gamble on Kate leaving St Mary’s hospital holding the Royal baby and wearing a blue dress.
Coral had offered even money on the Duchess emerging from the hospital holding the baby but punters backed it into 4/6, and Coral also offered 5/1 about Kate wearing a blue dress but that was also well backed into 3/1 favourite.
"We have been given a right Royal roasting today to the tune of £100k as punters piled their cash on Kate holding the baby and wearing blue." Said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.
Kate and Will spent their first night at home with their new son, whose name they have yet to decide upon. Speaking outside the hospital, the duke said they were "working on a name" and would choose one "as soon as we can".
George is the favourite for the first name of the prince, who is destined to be king one day, James and Alexander are among other names on a short price.
Coral had slashed the odds on George being the chosen name for the Royal baby after they were bombarded with bets following news that the Duchess of Cambridge had given birth to a boy. The betting firm took more than 10,000 bets in the space of twelve hours and cut the odds of the baby Prince being called George into 9/4 from 4/1.

9/4 George, 4/1 James, 6/1 Alexander, 10/1 Arthur, 10/1 Louis, 14/1 Henry, 14/1 Albert, 16/1 Richard, 20/1 bar
