Back-to-back wins away at Malta and Armenia have brought Denmark right back into contention in Group B, but they will need to be at their best to beat Italy on Friday. The Olsen Gang are one point behind second placed Bulgaria and need to get something out of this game before what on paper looks to be an easy final game against Malta. Morten Olsen was under fire earlier in the campaign after some poor results, but will no dooubt endear himself to the Danish public with a victory against Italy on Friday. Kasper Schmeichel should retain a starting role between the sticks despite a bad performance for Leicester at the weekend with Liverpool's Daniel Agger set to captain the side. Christian Eriksen has hit the ground running at Tottenham and will be the furthest man forward in the midfield providing support to the returning Nicklas Bendtner in attack.

The Danes face tough opposition though, as Italy are yet to lose a game in World Cup qualification Group B and top the table with 20 points from 8 matches played. The Azzuri had to come from behind in their last game to beat Czech Republic 2-1 and will be determined to remain unbeaten when they face Denmark. Head coach Cesare Prandelli could keep faith with Emanuele Giaccherini after a couple of impressive performances for struggling Sunderland in the Premier League and will be asking him to provide support to AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli in attack who currently tops the Group B scoring charts with four goals. Daniele De Rossi has been in good form for AS Roma and will hang on to his place in midfield with Riccardo Montolivo, while the midfield metronome Andrea Pirlo will again dictate the tempo for Italy.

Goals from Montolivo, De Rossi and Balotelli helped Italy to a 3-1 victory when the sides met at the San Siro last October and Denmark need to be much better on Friday if they are to have any chance of making it to Brazil 2014.
