Valencia twice equalised through Pablo Piatti and Jeremy Mathieu, but still went down 2-3 to Real Madrid at the Mestalla before Christmas, their second defeat to a side from the capital in as many matches having also lost 3-0 away to Atletico Madrid a week earlier. Former Los Ches player and new manager of the club Juan Antonio Pizzi has his work cut out to get Valencia back to where they want to be from tenth in the Primera Liga standings and a win against their rivals would certainly spur them on. The home fans at the Mestalla have only witnessed one victory for their side in the last five La liga games and a win against Levante would be the perfect way for Valencia to start to 2014.

Levante gave a good account of themselves when going down 3-2 away to Atletico Madrid in their last match with Andreas Ivanschitz and Pedro Ríos finding the net. Manager Joaquín Caparrós will have to do some re-shuffling though as Juanfran saw red in the final moments and will be suspended for this game. Los Granotes are twelfth in the Primera Liga, level on points with Valencia and will relish the opportunity to leapfrog them in the table. It's been four La Liga games since they won away from Ciutat de València though, and with just one success in their last seven outings, Levante could struggle on Saturday.

Levante have lost five of their last six matches in La Liga and are traveling to face a side which has scored at least twice in each of their last three home games. Valencia have scored at least one goal in each of their home matches this season, so the visitors will need to keep it tight at the back to get a result.
