Liverpool need West Ham to do them a favour if they are to lift the Premier League title but regardless of what happens in Manchester, the Reds will want to go out on a high at Anfield on Sunday.

Newcastle are the visitors for the last game of the season and punters will have to settle on some skinny odds for backing the obvious Liverpool victory. The Magpies are in free fall and the bookies can’t see past a home win. 2/9 is the best price around which is ok for inclusion in your weekend acca but doesn’t offer much of a return if you want a flutter while watching the match live.

We’ve taken a look to see if there are any better alternatives among the 100 or so markets on the match and here’s our pick of the best three bets on Liverpool v Newcastle.

Liverpool to win to nil, top price 13/10 at Paddy Power

It might have you shaking your head given Liverpool’s defensive frailties but Simone Mignolet couldn’t ask for a better chance to keep a clean sheet. He’s certainly due one as his last shut out was against Spurs in the 4-0 win at Anfield at the end of March.

Newcastle have been woeful since Yohan Cabaye left the club in January, they’ve failed to score in six of the last seven away games and have come away from Norwich and Fulham, two of the worst defences in the division, without a goal.

Jordan Henderson to score at anytime, top price 9/2 at Ladbrokes

The midfielder returns from suspension and should go straight back into the side given the Reds have only won one of the three games he has missed. He’s not most the prolific goalscorer but, as a Sunderland lad, would love to put one over Newcastle.

Henderson scored twice against the Black and Whites in the 6-0 rout at St James Park around this time last year and you can bet he’ll be busting a gut to get on the scoresheet again.

Liverpool to win 3-0 or 4-0, best odds 9/1 and 13/1 at BetVictor

There’s not often much value to be found betting correct scores but when your team is such a short price as Liverpool to beat Newcastle, then it’s going to be this market and first/last goal scorers you look to for bigger odds.

The bookies are taking no risks with Suarez (3/1 to score first at bet365) or Sturridge (15/4 to score first at bet365) and a correct score might be worth a dabble. Take your pick between 3-0 and 4-0 at decent prices or back both to get around 5/1 for your money.
