West Ham have been the surprise package of the 2014/15 season with the Hammers currently rubbing shoulders with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top end of the table.

Aston Villa on the other hand are currently in free fall after losing their last six games. It was all smiles for Paul Lambert on the 13th September as a 1-0 win at Anfield put his side second in the table. Now though, Villa are just one point off the bottom three and their name is becoming a permanent fixture in the relegation odds with the bookies.

Who Will Win?

It is fair to say then that Aston Villa’s upcoming fixtures are becoming ‘must wins’ as they look to correct their alarming fall down the table. They looked like they were about to hang on to get something from the game against Spurs, but two late Tottenham goals must have meant that this defeat was more crushing than any of the previous five.

With West Ham winning each of their last three home games, a stat that is made evev more impressive when you consider that two of those wins came against Liverpool and Manchester City, it is hard to look past a home win in this match and 4/5 with Ladbrokes for a Hammers win is a decent price.

However, the Hammers have won just 5 of the last 25 meetings between the two sides, with Aston Villa winning two and drawing once in the last 5 meetings at Upton Park. With the Villa well and truly up against the ropes, it is about time they came out fighting, and they are best priced at 17/4 with Bet Victor to win again at Upton Park this year.

Will There Be Goals?

Before opening the scoring against Spurs last weekend, Villa had went five games without finding the net. They might find the going a little easier at Upton Park however, with West Ham having only one clean sheet to their name this season. Goals in West Ham matches have been guaranteed this season, with over 2.5 in eight of their ten league games.

Both teams have also scored in eight of those games and with Villa at least getting the monkey of scoring goals off their back, odds of 10/11 with William Hill for both teams to score in this game looks an attractive price.

Who Will Score?

With Villa short of goals, the spotlight has been focused on Christian Benteke’s return from injury as the catalyst for change. However, the big Belgian has struggled to hit the ground running this season and is still scratching for form and fitness. Andreas Weimann has been Aston Villa’s most productive player in the attacking third this season, scoring 3 goals and assisting 1. Weimann is 17/5 with 888Sport to score anytime against the Hammers this weekend.

West Ham’s good form has been aided by the their new strike force. Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho have scored 9 goals between them this season, with Sakho in particular proving impressive. The dynamic duo are both priced at 11/8 to score anytime with Bet365 and will look to exploit an Aston Villa defence that has so far shipped 16 goals in 10 league games.
