England meet Slovenia at Wembley on Saturday in a top of the table clash after both teams make strong starts to their qualifying campaign. England, after their impressive opening qualifying victory over Switzerland, have been the heavy favourite to remain on top throughout the group stage, with some bookies even taking bets on England not to concede a goal throughout the rest of qualification.

Who Will Win?

England have a 100% record in the group so far and also a 100% record in matches against Slovenia after winning both of their previous two meetings. The task facing Slovenia this time round is big too. England have won their previous five home qualifying games, scoring 20 goals and conceding just 1. England therefore, look to justify their tag as 1/3 favourites with Winner.

Slovenia do come into this game in form however after winning their last two qualifying games, including an impressive victory over Switzerland, who were tipped to challenge England at the top of the group. Their odds of 11/1 to win this game with Ladbrokes may seem steep at first glance, but Slovenia will certainly be no pushovers.

Will There Be Goals?

In their last match, England made hard work of ten man Estonia and struggled to a 1-0 win. England are still without Daniel Sturridge who has been the most prolific English striker over the last 18 months and may have to grind out a result against a Slovenia side who have only conceded one goal in three qualifying games. Under 2.5 goals is 4/5 with Bet365.

England have a tight defence of their own, and are yet to concede a goal in qualifying so far. Also as mentioned before, they have only conceded one goal on their last five qualifying matches at Wembley. Although this may be a tough game for England, you should still expect them to dominate possession with a lot of the game played in the oppositions half. With that in mind, England to win to nil is 4/5 with Betway.

Who Will Score?

Much of the focus going into the game will be on Wayne Rooney earning his 100th international cap. The England captain is just six goals away from Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 49 international goals and with that added motivation in his mind, Rooney will be out for another international goal on Saturday. Rooney is consistently top of England’s scoring charts in qualifying campaigns and although he often flatters to deceive at major tournaments, qualifying matches at Wembley are where Rooney shines in an England shirt. Rooney is 20/19 to score anytime on Saturday with 888Sport.

Rooney has got competition to finish top of England’s scoring charts this time around though, with his ex Manchester United team mate Danny Welbeck making an excellent start to this campaign. Welbeck often lifts his game in an England shirt and his match winning brace away at Switzerland was a truly memorable performance. He has the pace to stretch and get in behind a tight Slovenia defence and should cause them problems. Welbeck is 13/10 to score anytime with Bet365.
