Online bookmaker Betway Sports is really pushing the boat out by offering 10/1 enhanced odds that Mayweather v Pacquiao will not go the distance and there are some compelling reasons to sign up and claim the price boost.
In the early hours of May 3rd (UK time) we will finally know who is the best pound for pound fighter in the world as Floyd Mayweather, Jr and Manny Pacquiao eventually step into the ring to do battle. Disputes over money, drugs testing and location have been stumbling blocks in getting the superfight organised, but the boxing match of the century is almost here with the MGM Grand in Las Vegas providing a stunning backdrop to the biggest sporting event in 2015.
Read on to find out why Betway's 10/1 enhanced odds on Mayweather v Pacquiao not to go the distance is simply too good an offer to pass up.
Compensation If The Fight Ends Early
Unless you're lucky enough to get ringside seats (yeah right!), then Pay-Per-View is the only way to catch Mayweather v Pacquiao live. With Sky Box Office charging £19.95 at the time of writing, viewers will be hoping to get their money's worth and a first round knockout will not be the desired outcome for those who have booked the fight and stayed up late to tune in.
Betway's price boost allows bets of up to £10 at enhanced odds 10/1 Mayweather v Pacquiao not to go the distance, so taking up the offer would at least give some compensation for the fight ending early, with up to £110 maximum return to new Betway customers.
Mayweather's Knockout Record
Floyd Mayweather, Jr's record of 47 fights without defeat speaks for itself, but when you factor in that he has won by knockout on 26 occasions, there is a case for this fight ending early.
The Pretty Boy's last knockout was against Victor Ortiz when he recovered from a deliberate headbutt to win in controversial circumstances. Ortiz let his guard down with the fight set to resume and he was duly hit with a right hook followed by a flush right hand which knocked him to the canvas and resulted in a kncokout victory for Mayweather.
There was no such controversy about his victory over Ricky Hatton, with Mayweather in control from the first round until Hatton was caught by a left hook, causing him to fall headfirst into the turnbuckle, before hitting the deck. Hatton did make it back to his feet, but was dazed and two more lefts in quick succession finished him off to secure a knockout victory for Floyd Mayweather.
Admittedly, Mayweather has become somewhat more methodical in his approach in recent years, but don't be surprised if he seizes the opportunity to land a knockout punch should he get the chance.
Pacquiao's Knockout Record
Manny Pacquiao cannot claim to be unbeaten, but just five losses and two draws from 64 bouts is certainly a record to be proud of. Pacman has won by knockout on 38 occasions and due to his offensive style is deemed to be more likely to score a knockdown in this fight with most online bookmakers.
Pacquiao's preference to go on the offensive resulted in him being knocked out by Juan Manuel Márquez in 2012, but it has also helped him to rough opponents up in the early rounds and claim some notable victories.
In 2009, Pacquiao knocked down Ricky Hatton twice in the first round before finishing him off with a devastating left hook in the second round. Later that year he knocked down Miguel Cotto in rounds 3 and 4 and continued to dish out some serious punishment to his opponent, prompting the referee to stop the fight fifty-five seconds into the twelfth round.
Massive Value Bet
Those who fancy the fight to end early will have noticed that the best odds available on a 'no' bet on the 'Fight To Go The Distance?' market are 5/2 with only a handful of bookies. A £10 bet at those odds would return just £35 compared to a £110 return using Betway's price boost.
Betway's offer is open to new customers only and will be paid in cash to the value of the normal odds at which the bet is struck, before topping up the enhanced winnings in free bets within 48 hours of the fight ending.
