The Group 2 Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud on Friday sees an eagerly anticipated return to action for the 2013/2014 Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe winner Treve with the daughter of Derby winner Motivator set to face eight rivals in the extended one mile two furlong contest for which bookmaker William Hill make the five-year-old mare a 4-7 chance to open her account for the season - the main target for the year being an unprecedented third Arc at Longchamp in October.
Jockey Thierry Jarnet will once again renew his partnership with the great mare who has been pleasing trainer Criquette Head-Maarek in her recent work, of which she said: "She's incredible, you would never know she only worked 20 minutes ago - she's hardly beathing at all. I've got nothing that can go with her. I end up burning horses and I put different horses in front of her."
"When a horse goes through like that at the end of a gallop, it's tough on them. It's tough on them at the end of the race as well. We say it cuts their legs and in a way it's true. Thierry said she was very well and had a lovely action, he liked her very much. I told him to be careful this morning ( Monday ) because she is used to us and she stops. If you let her do what she wants, as soon as she goes past us, she knows the gallop is over. She is five years old and she has been here for years, she knows all the tricks."
Providing Treve comes through Friday's race without any problems the superstar is likely to head back to the venue for the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud towards the end of next month, after which she may have a break before returning to action for the Prix Vermeille and then an attempt at becoming the first horse to win Europe's richest race on three occasions, for which she can be backed at a top price 5-1 with several firms including Skybet, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes.
