Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates for a Premier League Monday night football clash on 24th August 2015 - Live at 20.00 on Sky Sports 1. Both sides will be hoping to challenge for honours this season and at the very least will be aiming to finish in the top four, giving added spice to this clash between two of the league's biggest clubs.
Arsenal's campaign began with a shock 0-2 home defeat to West Ham, but the Gunners put things right with a 1-2 victory away to Crystal Palace and will be looking to put on a good show for their fans at the Emirates. Arsene Wenger's side are unbeaten at home against Liverpool in the last four matches and have won the last three at Monday's venue, including an impressive 4-1 success the last time these teams met.
Liverpool head South hoping to extend their 100% record at the start of the season following a 0-1 win away to Stoke and a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. The Reds don't have the best of records in this fixture, but are yet to concede a goal this season and it's interesting that there have been under 2.5 goals scored in 10 of their last 12 away games in the Premier League.
Online bookmakers have Arsenal down as favourites at a shade of odds-on, with Liverpool deeemed to be outsiders to win the match. In a game that looks tough to call, plenty of punters will be sitting on the fence and can still get involved in the action by opting for a bet on the First Goalscorer market.
Goalscorer Second Chance
Theo Walcott appears to have been displaced by Olivier Giroud at the head of affairs for Arsenal and the latter will be a popular selection following the Frenchman getting the opener against Palace. Alexis Sanchez is expected to start the game and should also be considered on the basis of his goal-scoring returns last season.
In midfield, Santi Cazorla retains spot-kick duties and was on the score-sheet along with Aaron Ramsey in this fixture back in 2013, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got the opener against the Reds in a 2014 FA Cup tie, though did start on the bench last week.
Liverpool's Christian Benteke had an impressive home debut against Bournemouth and Brendan Rogers will be hoping that he can be just as effective here. The powerful Belgian ended last season with a flurry of goals for Aston Villa and will be the go to selection for punters expecting Liverpool to draw first blood.
Phillipe Coutinho is fond of a pop at goal from distance and may be of interest to those looking for bigger odds, while Jordan Henderson netted 7 times from midfield last season and is now first choice penalty taker for the Reds.
