2010 World Matchplay Darts Betting: Phil Taylor On Target For Eleventh Title
Bookmakers are offering free bets for the Stan James World Matchplay Darts on quarter-final night at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Tournament favourite Phil Taylor cruised through his second round match against Steve Beaton last night and remains on target for his eleventh World Matchplay title.
Taylor began his campaign for the £100,000 first prize with a record breaking first round win against Barrie Bates on Tuesday.
His three-dart average in that game setting a new tournament record and he followed up last night with another ton-plus average to sweep aside former World Champion Beaton.
Kevin Painter won a tight see-saw encounter with Mark Walsh and takes on ‘The Power’ in the quarter-final tonight.
Dutchman Jelle Klaasen won a thrilling 14-12 match against Gary Anderson to set up a quarter-final tie against Simon Whitlock.
Whitlock suffering the after effects of flu, came through with a 13-10 win over Steve Brown.
Klaasen was underdog against Anderson and he is the outsider again at 5/2 with Stan James for tonight’s match.
Raymond van Barneveld could be a genuine threat to Taylor later in the event, Extrabet and Sporting Bet offer 9/1 odds for him to win this year’s title.
He takes on Co Stompe looking to continue the form he has shown in the first two rounds.
James Wade and Wayne Jones get quarter-final night underway.
Wade has been struggling for consistency in Blackpool which gives some appeal to Stan James odds of 5/1 for his old rival Jones to come out on top.
Last night’s full second round results:
Gary Anderson 12-14 Jelle Klaasen
Kevin Painter 14-12 Mark Walsh
Steve Beaton 4-13 Phil Taylor
Simon Whitlock 13-10 Steve Brown
