The 2013 race saw Dank take the Filly and Mare Turf title in what was a hugely successful year for the horse. She improved rapidly throughout the year, winning four of her five races. She travelled over to the USA twice and won on both occasions, displaying her pedigree on the firmer ground provided by American tracks.
She will be back to defend her title this year and will face stiff competition from the other contenders. However, Dank set the course alight last year, breaking the record time for the event which was set back in 2003. Her time of 1.58.73 is the time to beat this year and the race wont be short of challengers.
Another British trained horse, Euro Charline, enters the race as a challenge winner after winning the Beverley D. Stakes. That was Euro Charline’s third win from six races in 2014 and she is hitting form at just the right time.
Other challenge winners entering this race are Deceptive Vision, Fiesolana, Minorette and Tapestry. However the challenge events are the only races that these horses have won in 2014 so none of them will enter the race in great form.
American trained horse Parranda, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, will probably claim the prize as the form horse going in to this race. She has won four times in seven races so far in 2014, including a victory at Santa Anita in June.
