Ange Postecoglou praises Tottenham star

Despite eventually coming away with a 3-1 win over Palace, it was not all plain sailing for the Lilywhites over the weekend.

Eberechi Eze put the away side 1-0 up in the 59th minute and Spurs did not equalise until the 77th minute thanks to Timo Werner.

Late goals from Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son, with Brennan Johnson assisting two of the three efforts, secured a huge win for the north Londoners and earned Timo Werner high praise from Postecoglou post-match:

“I thought Timo, he missed the chance in the first half but he was a constant threat to them and was in the right area for the goal,” he said.

“I understand that with attacking players, goals make them feel better and make them more confident. I guess it relieves the pressure on them a little bit but just in general I thought he was really aggressive with his running.

“He kept taking on the full-back and I thought apart from the missed chance his general play was really good. A goal always helps, it was pleasing for us and it was an important time in the game. It was great for him to score.”
