Ange Postecoglou praises ‘clever’ Tottenham staff member after early-season success

Tottenham have had a near-perfect start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign as we head into the October break.

The Lilywhites saw off Luton Town in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off to go top of the division for the first time in nearly three years. They ended the weekend in top spot after Arsenal beat Manchester City on Sunday.

With Tottenham the only top-four side not dealing with European football this season, their chances of causing a major upset are surely boosted. Back Tottenham to win the Premier League with bet365 at 11/1.

Ange Postecoglou praises Ryan Mason

Tottenham are enjoying a superb start to the 2023/24 season. A huge reason for this is the impact of new manager, Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou’s rebuild of the club all while losing MVP Harry Kane has earned plenty of plaudits, both in terms of the free-flowing attacking football his team have played and their ability to be resilient.

This new-look Tottenham have been particularly deadly from set-pieces, with only Everton (5) scoring more than Tottenham’s four goals from corners or free-kicks this term.

Speaking after Spurs’ win over Luton at the weekend, Postecoglou was quick to praise Ryan Mason for his impact on the team’s set-piece success:

“We were going to need his clever thinking and outside-of-the-box thinking, and Mase works really hard with the guys on set-pieces and he always says that if it’s on early – get it early,” he said.

“An early corner or set piece and you can see Madders’ brain working before they’re fully organised and creates a bit of magic for Micky to score.”
