Ange Postecoglou provides James Maddison update after injury scare

Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners over Brentford on Wednesday evening to move back into the top-four for the first time in a while.

Spurs’ form has improved a great deal in recent weeks and they will be looking to continue that into the weekend when they face Everton on Saturday. Back Tottenham to win at 7/5 with bet365.

James Maddison update

Part of the reason Tottenham fell out of the top-four in the first place following such a good start to the campaign was the injury crisis they suffered.

Countless key players found themselves on the sidelines, including the recently returned James Maddison.

Maddison started vs Brentford and caused quite the stir online for his beef with Neal Maupay, but the Englishman did also appear to pick up a knock vs the Bees - something Ange Postecoglou addressed in his post-match press conference:

“Yeah it was just cramp and I think that’s a fair assessment,” Postecoglou stated. “He got more and more into the game and I think he’s one of the guilty ones who spent more time in the first half chatting to the ref than getting on the ball. That’s not what we want him to do.

“We want him to play football and I thought in the second half his quality shone through and when he’s like that, and I’m sure that game will do him the world of good, it just gives us so much more flow through that central area.”
