Anthony Martial at Evens with Paddy Power to complete Newcastle switch

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial seems almost certain to be playing his football elsewhere next month – and Newcastle United could well be his destination.

The Frenchman has fallen way down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has told new United boss Ralf Ragnick he wants to leave.

Callum Wilson’s injury could end up being the key to the Magpies securing the services of Martial, with Paddy Power making him Evens to move to St James’ Park in January.

Wilson has been Newcastle’s main source of goals this season, but he is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury against Manchester United on Monday.

Understand Callum Wilson’s injury is torn calf muscle & fears are period of months sidelined. Allan Saint-Maximin injury is also calf related, while Ryan Fraser has picked up a hamstring problem. Full story… https://t.co/Aj7mUMVoDH

Rangnick said of Martial: “He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“I think in a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.

“We have COVID-19 times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions and want to be as successful as we can be.”

Martial’s potential availability has alerted some of Europe’s elite clubs and it appears as though Barcelona could be another option – Paddy Power have him at 12/1 to move to the Nou Camp.

Perhaps an outside bet on Martial could be to join West Ham as they look to strengthen their bid for Champions League qualification.

Mikel Antonio has scored only once in his past eight Premier League appearances and Hammers boss David Moyes may look to bolster his frontline.

Betfair have Martial at 12/1 to be a West Ham player next month. Watch this space.
