Over the last several years, Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal into one of the best teams in the Premier League.
The Gunners are currently 2nd in the English top-flight, level on points with Tottenham and unbeaten in eight games. They are also 13/10 favourites with bet365 to beat Chelsea on Saturday.
Part of the reason for Arsenal’s success under Mikel Arteta has been their focus on signing young players and molding them to fit exactly what the Spaniard wants out of his side.
The likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba all fit into this category and Arsenal have been keen to tie such players down to fresh terms over the last year or so.
And now, Arsenal have held positive contract talks with Ben White as they continue to work on tying down the core players of their squad.
White has been one of the side’s most consistent performers since joining from Brighton for £50m in 2021. But whilst White still has just under three years to run on his current contract, as has been the case with other key players, there is an acceptance he should be rewarded for his fine form.
The Englishman is regarded as one of the best trainers at the club and Mikel Arteta is a big fan of his:
“I think he’s been a very consistent player for us,” Arteta said earlier this month. “I think he’s been always developing for us.
“I think he’s got the character of a proper fighter and a character that we need in the squad, especially at this level, and I’m really happy for that.”
