As their Edin Dzeko deal stalls amidst inquiries for the likes of Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch, it appears Chelsea have set their sights on another big man.
Antonio Conte’s Blues are reportedly pondering a move for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman had been expected to make a loan move to Borussia Dortmund with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang going to other way permanently.
However, with both sides unable to find common ground in negotiations, the Stamford Bridge side appear to have sensed at opportunity to finally bag a big man. Giroud’s wife, Jennifer, was against the striker leaving for Everton in the summer, as she refused to leave London – so a switch to fashionable Chelsea might tick all the boxes.
Conte is keen to give summer signing Alvaro Morata some rest, with the Spaniard going through a tough run of form. After exploding on the scene of the Premier League, Morata’s debut season as a team’s first choice centre forward now looks to be taking its toll.
Earlier this week, Conte confirmed he had been interested in snaring Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, but claimed the club pulled out of the race for the Chilean.
Conte seems increasingly frustrated with the board and recently said: “The club decides every single player.”
Giroud netted 12 goals from 29 Premier League appearances last term, many of which from the bench. Though not a star name, he would certainly go some way to solving the Blues’ lack of cutting edge.
