Bukayo Saka drops out of England squad

After linking up with the rest of the England squad, Saka did not join his teammates in training at St George’s Park on Wednesday and was instead instructed to focus on individual work in the gym.

Whatever issue prevented Saka from taking part in full team training has seemingly been deemed serious enough to send the winger back to Arsenal.

A statement from the national team read: “Bukayo Saka has left the [England] camp and returned to his club for continued rehabilitation on an injury he reported to St. George’s Park with.”

Of course, while Arsenal fans may be concerned over this news, it is worth pointing out that top clubs and players have something of a reputation for pulling out of international games during key periods of the season, especially when the player in question would only be taking part in friendly matches - as Saka would have been this month.

Gunners fans will hope this is simply the case with Saka, given their crunch clash with Manchester City next week.
