ATP Tennis: Shanghai Masters Results, Murray too good for Chardy
Andy Murray swept into the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters with a confident straight sets win against Jeremy Chardy on Thursday.
Online bookmakers are giving away free bets to new customers who sign up during the ATP Masters Series event in Shanghai from 11 – 17 October.
Victory over the Frenchman assured the British number one of his place in the ATP World Tour Finals held at the O2 Arena in London in November.
23-year-old Murray has never lost to Chardy and his 100% record against the world 59 was never under threat as the Scot cruised through the third round match 6-3, 6-4.
As bookmakers hurriedly revised their odds after Rafa Nadal’s surprise exit, Murray was available at odds of 3/1 with 888 Sport to go on to claim his second title this year.
He meets another Fenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-final when they are first out on court on Friday morning.
Tsonga put in another impressive display when saving three break points before knocking out Germany’s Florian Mayer 7-5, 6-3 in 85 minutes.
Murray is hot favourite to beat the world number 13, who he has defeated three times in four previous meetings.
888 Sport bet 10/11 Murray to progress in straight sets while William Hill offer odds of 5/2 for Tsonga to pull off a surprise win.
