Hawkins victory at the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open was his first ranking title since turning pro in 1996. The 34-year-old, who was born in Dartford, beat former World Champion Peter Ebdon in the final to crown the greatest moment of his career.
The field is headed by Australia’s most famous snooker star, Neil Robertson who is favourite to win his home tournament which is in its third year since gaining sponsorship to become a world ranking event. The 31-year-old from Melbourne won the world championship at the Crucible in 2010 and became world number one after winning his eighth ranking title in the Wuxi Classic in June.

World number two Mark Selby, reigning Players Tour champion Ding Junhui, 2012 UK Championship finalist and World number four Shaun Murphy and Premier League champion Stuart Bingham are among a world class field for the $445,000 event.
The first round gets underway on Monday 8th July with second round matches beginning on Wednesday. The last 16 matches will take place on Thursday before Friday’s quarter-finals. The semi-finals will be held on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
