Barcelona Defender Blasts "Joker" Journalist For Manchester United Rumours
March 26, 2018
Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has labelled a journalist who asked him about a possible move to Manchester United a “joker”.
Umtiti has been at Barcelona for just over 18 months, cementing himself as a fan favourite alongside Gerard Pique at the heart of the Blaugrana backline.
But speculation over his future has refused to die down, with it being reported that he has an €80million buyout clause in his contract, a fee Old Trafford officials are willing to pay.
While the France international did not fuel the fire any further, Barcelona fans will not rest easy with his response. The Barcelona board are said to be unwilling to meet his wage demands as they look to renegotiate his contract and insert a bigger release fee.
Jose Mourinho is in the market for a big name centre back this summer as he continues in his attempts to re-establish United as the biggest force in Europeam football once again.
United are lining up a summer move for Raphael Varane. Real Madrid are open to selling and are looking for around £50m. Mourinho is also interested in Toby Alderweireld and Samuel Umtiti. #mufc [Mirror]— United Xtra (@utdxtra) March 22, 2018
