Barcelona are set to compete with Real Madrid to sign in-form Manchester City forward, Julian Alvarez.
Alvarez has been in superb form for Manchester City so far this season, already scoring six goals. The Argentine can be backed at 11/8 with bet365 to score anytime vs Brighton on Saturday.
Julian Alvarez attracting transfer interest
Julian Alvarez has spent his short stint in England playing back-up to Erling Haaland but he continues to impress in spite of this and is now attracting interest from Spanish giants, FC Barcelona.
As per SPORT, Barcelona do not have cover for their veteran forward Robert Lewandowski in their attack at the moment, which has prompted them to turn their attention towards Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.
Barca won a high-profile transfer race for Athletico PR’s teenage striker, Vitor Roque, who recently picked up an ankle injury, and is expected to recover before he formally moves to Barcelona in January. While Roque could prove to be a quality signing in the future, the club need an established player who could play alongside an aging Lewandowski and they have earmarked Alvarez for that role.
Real Madrid are also said to be eyeing a move for Alvarez in case they fail to land Kylian Mbappe next season. No potential transfer fee for the Manchester City star is mentioned.
