Manchester City’s King of Twitter Benjamin Mendy has struck once again by trolling both Kevin De Bruyne and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the same tweet. The long-running joke that the latter is the former’s son because they look so similar has entertained many people, and Mendy brought it back with an epic tweet.
Since breaking through at Monaco two seasons ago, Mendy has shown he is one of the best left backs in Europe. Helping City win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup, as well as aiding his native France in their success at the World Cup means he’s had a great career on the pitch despite serious injuries hampering his progress since the £52million move to England.
But he has gained a reputation off the pitch for his humorous posts on Twitter and Instagram, which have made both City fans and neutrals fall in love with him.
His manager, Pep Guardiola, has jokingly said he wishes Mendy would step away from social media. Perhaps he wishes he would, but the defender isn’t likely to give up his phone anytime soon. With De Bruyne on holiday with his young son, he posted a photo of him playing with him, claiming to throw him in the air like a basketball. Mendy replied to this tweet by saying “poor Zinchenko”. Hilarious.

But things will soon turn serious at City again as they look to defend their Premier League crown once again. They were pushed all the way by Liverpool last season but secured a second crown on the final day. It will also be a huge aim of Guardiola to win the Champions League after the heartache suffered against Tottenham in last year’s quarter finals.
Who Manchester City sign will be very interesting too. Atlético Madrid midfielders Rodri and Saul Niguez have both been linked, while a new central defender and cover for Mendy at left back could also be key. But it won’t be a major summer spree at the Etihad Stadium after two great seasons.
