David Warner worth consideration as IPL top run-scorer

We don’t like the look of cricket in 2022, we love it!

The IPL, the Vitality Blast, the Hundred, Test Match Cricket, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup…….is that enough for you?

No, how about all the other domestic leagues, including Australia’s Big Bash, which Freebets Cricket Betting will be covering in full for 2022/23 as well as providing previews for the ongoing campaign’s finals.

To further enhance your enjoyment of all things cricket in 2022, bet365 have compiled a series of specials dedicated to the sport in the New Year and all the possibilities that it brings.

Beginning in April, the IPL has become one of the standout competitions in the cricketing calendar.

In the build-up to the event, bet365 will have hundreds of markets available, as well as our industry leading In-Play product covering any single match. Until then however, we’ll be concentrating on the big hitters, the batters.

Jos the boss for Royals

KL Rahul is the 11/2 favourite to be the top Indian batter in IPL 2022, closely followed by Bangalore legend Virat Kohli at 13/2 and Chennai’s rising star Ruturaj Gaikwad at 8/1.

Rahul scored over 600 runs for the Punjab Kings while captaining the team last year and is widely expected to lead the run charge once again. But potentially for a new team as he has not been retained by the Kings and heads into the New Year, pre-tournament auction when two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, will be assembling inaugural squads.

An Englishman is the favourite in the Top Rest of the World market, and it’s no surprise who. Jos Buttler, at 6/1, had an outstanding T20 World Cup in November, notching 205 runs in England’s progression to the semi-finals and is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous batters in the limited overs formats of the game.

With over 2,000 career IPL runs to his name, it’s no wonder the Rajasthan Royal heads up the betting.

Warner has a point to prove

Both David Warner (at 9/1) and Jonny Bairstow are up for selection in the aforementioned auction following their release by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Warner fell out of favour in his final season at Hyderabad. But there is absolutely no denying his quality – and statistics back it up.

In 150 career IPL games, he has scored 5,449 runs at an average of 41.59. That average is the highest of any player who has played more than 100 IPL career games, while he is the all-time leading overseas batter and in the top five run-scorers of any nationality.

At that 9/1, he stands out, especially with him no doubt thinking he has a point to prove having been left out by Hyderabad, who have since had a coaching overhaul.

England bid for twin World Cup glory

We don’t have to wait long for the next T20 international tournament as a fixture backlog means we have both the ICC Women’s World Cup and the Men’s T20 World Cup taking place in 2022. bet365 have a couple of 2022 specials for both English and Aussie fans to get stuck into. England to win the Women’s World Cup and Men’s T20 World Cup has been priced up at 25/1, while Australia can be backed to do the double at 9/1.

India are the outright favourites for the Men’s T20 World Cup at a short priced 3/1, and many fancy them to improve on their disappointing performance at the tournament in 2021.
