Brighton v Brentford prediction

Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals - 10/11

Brighton slipped to a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday but will feel hard done by, having won the shot count 18-8 and seen 68 per cent of the ball at Stamford Bridge. They also had a man advantage for the second half following Conor Gallagher’s sending off but the Seagulls failed to capitalise and will be looking for a response against Brentford.

But Roberto De Zerbi’s men have been held to draws in each of their last three home league games against Liverpool, Fulham and Sheffield United and punters should not rush to back them. Instead, goals are the way to go with Brighton having scored and conceded in each of their last 18 Premier League games.

They are an excellent pick in the both teams to score market each week and punters should couple that with over 2.5 goals against the Bees, who beat Luton 3-1 on Saturday.

Fulham v Nottingham Forest prediction

Fulham to win - 19/20

Fulham nearly scuppered Liverpool’s perfect home record in the Premier League on Sunday, having led 3-2 with 10 minutes to go, but the Cottagers crumbled and lost 4-3 at Anfield. It was a frustrating afternoon for Marco Silva’s men but they can bounce back at home to travel-sick Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

The Tricky Trees have struggled on the road this season, losing five of their seven league fixtures away from the City Ground. And they have picked up only four of their 13 Premier League points on their travels, which does not bode well for their visit to the capital.

Fulham won their most recent home league fixture 3-2 against Wolves at the end of November and they look a solid bet to prevail.

Sheffield United v Liverpool information

Sheffield United v Liverpool prediction

Liverpool -2 goals on handicap result - 11/10

Following Sheffield United’s 5-0 drubbing by Burnley on Saturday, stories quickly emerged that Paul Heckingbottom could be set to depart with the club in a precarious position at the foot of the table. The news of Heckingbottom’s departure was confirmed on Wednesday with Chris Wilder making a return to Bramall Lane.

The Blades have now lost 11 of their 14 Premier League fixtures this season with their only win coming at home against Wolves back in November. They have been leaking goals with 39 conceded which is an average of 2.8 goals conceded per game and things will not get any easier when they welcome Liverpool to Bramall Lane.

The Reds fired four goals past Fulham on Sunday to preserve their perfect home record and, even though they have been inconsistent on their travels, they should win this game comfortably. Back them to win by two or more goals.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City information

  • Where is Aston Villa v Manchester City? Villa Park, Birmingham
  • When is Aston Villa v Manchester City? 20:15, Wednesday 6th December
  • Where can I watch Aston Villa v Manchester City? Amazon Prime Video
  • What are the odds for Aston Villa Manchester City? Aston Villa 7/2, Draw 16/5, Manchester City 7/10

Aston Villa v Manchester City prediction

Over 2.5 goals - 4/7

Manchester City’s title pursuit has been halted by three successive draws with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham and punters should also think twice about backing them on the road to Aston Villa. City are only one point ahead of Villa, who have won all six of their league fixtures at Villa Park this season and Unai Emery’s men are troublesome opponents. It could therefore pay instead to back over 2.5 goals at 4/7.

While Villa’s league games are averaging 3.79 goals per game, City’s average stands at 3.71 - only Brighton (4.00) are above them when it comes to that statistic. City played out a 3-3 thriller with Tottenham on Sunday and that followed a 4-4 draw with Chelsea and a 3-2 win over Leipzig in November, so anticipate another high-scoring encounter.
