Liverpool travel to the Reebok Stadium today without an away win in the Premier League this season and manager Roy Hodgson will be hoping that star striker Fernando Torres can maintain the improved form he showed last weekend .
Further speculation about the future of Torres and Pepe Reina will not have helped the mood in the Liverpool camp this week and Hodgson has openly admitted that he desperately needs to strengthen his squad . In what was his frankest admission of a lack of squad depth, Hodgson said: “We’re desperately short of players. Front players. Having three players up front, and that’s if you include Ryan Babel, is nowhere near good enough.”
Confirmed team news for Liverpool is eagerly awaited as Glen Johnson could return at right back where die hard Jamie Carragher has struggled against speedy wingers . In midfield Hodgson is likely to continue with Joe Cole despite his consistent poor performances and summer signings Milan Jovanovic and Christian Poulsen are again likely to be left out .
Bolton have become more consistent this season under Owen Coyle and are likely to field an unchanged side from the team that drew at Wigan last week .
With Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander up front , Bolton are a real threat and Martin Petrov and Chung Yong Lee will relish the prospect of attacking the Liverpool defenders from wide positions .
Liverpool are a shadow of the team of only three years ago and have only won once away from home in the Premier League in 2010 .
On current form and with home advantage Bolton should be favourites to win this game and are huge value at odds of 13/5 with Victor Chandler .
Live action from the Reebok from 4pm on Sky Sports1 .
