Boylesports have announced that they are to takeover 17 of the Celtic Bookmakers shops in a move that will see the Dundalk based bookmaker grow to 158 outlets across the Irish Republic .
Celtic Bookmakers fell into receivership earlier this month after accumulating heavy losses over the last three years but the chain had many good sites that were very profitable . Last week the receiver Neil Hughes, of accountancy firm Hughes Blake, said that 29 outlets remained viable and would stay open with most of the jobs rescued.
Boylesports appear to have picked the cream of those 29 outlets and will have paid a seven figure sum for the acquisition . Speaking about the acquisition, Mark Nunan, Boylesports Head of Marketing, said: “We at Boylesports are thrilled to announce that we will be taking over 17 new shops and helping to avoid almost 100 redundancies . Nunan continued “”This significant investment shows our commitment and ambition in the retail betting market …Our new acquisitions will complement our existing estate and we believe they further cement our position as the largest independent bookmaker in the country.”
Boylesports also offer telephone and internet betting and generally offer customers on all platforms some great value and innovative offers .
Currently Boylesports are offering all new customers who open an internet betting account and bet £20 , a £40 free bet and the firm are regular sponsors of horse racing in Ireland and the UK .
The 17 shops acquired are at the following locations:
•Castlebar Co Mayo
•Clonakilty Co Cork
•Collins Ave Dublin
•Kanturk Strand St Co Cork
•Miltown Malbay Co Clare
•Patrickswell Co Limerick
