Breeders Cup Update: Bookies Reaction To Shared Belief Win
Shared Belief’s victory at the Awesome Again Stakes has cemented his place as favourite for the 2014 Breeders Cup Classic.
He is best priced at 7/4 with Sky Bet and BetVictor and to put this into context, the next best priced horse is Bayern who is 8/1 with the same bookies.

Looking through the form book, it is hard to argue with his position as firm favourite for the Classic. His win at Santa Anita in late September took his record in 2014 to four wins in four rides. Crucially, victory at the Awesome Again Stakes proved his capabilities to perform on that same track the Breeders Cup Classic will be held.
His four victories this year took his overall record to a perfect seven wins in seven rides. It’s no surprise to see Shared Belief achieve this level of performance when you look at the expertise he has at his disposal.
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer was inducted into racing’s Hall of Fame in 2011 and is among only a handful of trainers who have recorded 6,000 wins. He is now closing in on 7,000 wins after Shared Belief’s win at Santa Anita. Shared Belief also has the best big race rider in the world on board in Mike Smith, who has a wonderful record at the Breeders Cup.
Smith has rode 20 winners in the Breeders Cup in his illustrious career, with his first win coming back in 1992. Five of those victories came in 2012 and 2013 when the Cup was held at Santa Anita. If anyone has the pedigree to guide Shared Belief to victory in the Breeders Cup Classic, it’s Smith.
