We may not have a full list of fixtures to enjoy due to postponements in the Championship, but there is certainly enough for us to put together an acca for the games taking place on Wednesday, December 29.
Three teams form our bet on the night, and here is a look at why we fancy all three.
Middlesbrough to win away at Blackpool
Since the appointment of Chris Wilder, Middlesbrough have gone from the bottom half of the Championship to sitting in a playoff spot over the festive period.
Four wins and a draw from their last five, and four consecutive clean sheets in their last four games, has certainly given Boro fans something to cheer about.
Blackpool may have beaten Peterborough 3-1 recently, but when up against the bigger and better teams in this division, they’ve struggled. Four defeats in their last five has fans worried, and we think Middlesbrough will pile even more onto them here.
An away win for Boro to continue Wilder’s strong start as boss is the first pick in our midweek acca.December 26, 2021
Blackburn to beat Barnsley at home (-1 handicap)
Blackburn are the form team in the Championship right now, and on Wednesday night they come up against the team with the worst form in the division.
Rovers have won their last five, while Barnsley have won just two all season and while Blackburn looking up, Barnsley are staring down the barrel of relegation unless something improves, and fast.
The Reds have failed to score in three of their last five, and are without top marksman Cauley Woodrow here, making their task even tougher.
Not only do we see Blackburn winning this, but we think they’ll win comfortable, so it’s Blackburn on the -1 handicap line to boost their price further.
Coventry to beat Millwall at home
Rounding off the acca we go with Coventry at home to Millwall. No win in five says Coventry have dipped a little recently, but every single one of those games came against a team playing well, this is a much easier task, and a great opportunity to get back to winning ways.
Millwall have won just one of their last six, and have recently lost to both Hull and Peterborough. Coventry are far better than those two, and although they haven’t won recently, we are siding with Coventry to win this one, as the third and final selection in our acca.
