Championship Preview: Hull City v Blackburn Rovers

There is not a team in the Championship playing as well as Blackburn Rovers right now, they have won their last five games and they have kept a clean sheet in them all. Fresh off a fantastic 4-0 win over Birmingham City last weekend, Blackburn go to Hull on Boxing Day, looking to make it six in a row.

Blackburn Rapidly Developing into Promotion Contenders

Blackburn have quickly turned themselves into promotion contenders over the past few weeks, coinciding their strong form with struggles from teams above. Blackburn have won their last five games, in that time, West Brom have won twice, and both Fulham and Bournemouth are without a win in the same timeframe.

The Rovers have three huge games over the festive period, to really push themselves forward again. After this trip to Hull, they have home fixtures against struggling Barnsley and Huddersfield to round off their festive games. Three wins, and it really could be time to sit up and take notice of what the club is doing.

A Clean Sheet on the Cards again for Blackburn

Given their current form, we fancy Blackburn to win once again on Boxing Day. Hull have played very well recently, but suffered defeat last week against Nottingham Forest. Blackburn can make that two losses in a row, and not only that, but we also fancy the Rovers to pick up another clean sheet.

It’s Blackburn to continue their strong run of form for me in this one, I am backing a Blackburn win to nil.

Hull Capable of Keeping the Game Close

While Blackburn are fancied to win this game, Hull have shown enough recently to keep this game close. They went on a run of four wins and two draws from six games before the loss to Forest last weekend. Although many of those games came against teams towards the bottom of the league, Hull have still impressed me recently.

Given that, for a punt at longer odds, I’m backing a 1-0 Blackburn win.
