Chelsea return to Premier League action this coming Saturday with an away trip to Newcastle.
The Blues would have been serious underdogs for this fixture a month ago. However, Chelsea beat Tottenham and drew with Manchester City before the break, while Newcastle are currently dealing with a serious injury crisis. Back Chelsea to beat the Magpies at 13/8 with bet365.
Christopher Nkunku injury update ahead of Newcastle
Prior to the international break getting underway, it was suggested that Christopher Nkunku could finally make his competitive Chelsea debut vs Newcastle after the forward suffered an injury in pre-season vs Borussia Dortmund, which has kept him out of action since.
However, the news coming out of Chelsea’s latest training session suggests that Nkunku is not quite ready to return just yet.
Levi Colwill and Malo Gusto have boosted Chelsea by returning from injury, but Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia both missed the session.
Colwill and Gusto withdrew from international duty due to respective shoulder and knee problems. Said duo are now expected to return ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Newcastle on Saturday, with both Nkunku and Lavia having potentially four more training sessions to prove their fitness.
