Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic speaks out on no.1 battle with Robert Sanchez

Chelsea faced off with Luton Town on Saturday afternoon in a Premier League clash.

The Blues ran out 3-2 winners on the day thanks to a Cole Palmer brace and a strike from Noni Madueke. Chelsea are back in action vs Preston in the FA Cup on Saturday and are 1/5 favourites with bet365 to win that tie.

Who should be Chelsea’s no.1?

Ahead of Chelsea’s next outing, Djordje Petrovic has spoken about his battle to become the Blues’ no.1.

The Serbian has looked at ease since coming in to replace injured no.1 Robert Sanchez, helping Chelsea win four of their last five matches in all competitions.

Petrovic will continue in goal this weekend, with Sanchez likely to be out for another few weeks. That gives him a chance to prove to Mauricio Pochettino that he can be the long-term no1.

But having built a good relationship with Sanchez behind the scenes, Petrovic talked up the healthy competition among the goalkeepers at Chelsea:

“I just look at the next game and I just want to help the team,” he said.

“The decision is not on me, it is on the coach and that’s it. We push each other and have a good chemistry and that’s all that’s important.”
