Scottish Premiership Preview: Dundee United v Hibernian

Hibs make the trip north on Boxing Day to face Dundee United, and having kicked off Shaun Maloney’s tenure with a hard-fought victory over Aberdeen midweek, they’ll be keen to follow that up with a win in Dundee.

And history is on their side – the Easter Road have won on five of their last six trips to Tannadice.

United, meanwhile, are struggling for form after a solid start to the season that saw them in the top half of the table.

They’re still in the top 6, just, but they’ve lost their last four matches and failed to score in all four of them also, although this run has included losses to both Rangers and Celtic.

Hibs looked impressive against Aberdeen, and Shaun Maloney has the squad to fight city rivals Hearts for 3rd spot, but this is the kind of fixture he needs to win if they are to close the current seven-point gap on the Jambos.

Matches between this pair typically sees plenty of attacking action, with over 2.5 goals landing in both clashes this season.

With the goals having dried up in recent weeks for both sides, though, a safer play may be to see Hibs extend their exemplary record at Tannadice with another victory.

Both sides will be keen to bag three points before heading into the winter break, but Hibs have enough quality to edge this by the odd goal – take a Hibs win at 23/20 with William Hill.
