England injury blow

After hosting Australia on Friday, England then welcome Italy to the capital on Tuesday, October 17, for a Euro 2024 qualifier.

The Three Lions beat Italy 2-1 in their previous meeting and a win next week would all but secure their spot top of Group C as they are already six points clear of 2nd place after five games.

Ahead of the game, though, England have been dealt an injury blow as Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has withdrawn from the England squad for their upcoming fixtures.

The winger was unable to train all last week and, as a result, missed the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday. On Monday afternoon, the 22-year-old reported to St. George’s Park with the rest of the England squad, but after he was assessed by the England medical team, it was decided Saka would continue his rehabilitation at Arsenal.

With Saka sidelined, there is a chance for West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen to impress Southgate on the wing. Bowen is 13/8 to score anytime vs Australia with bet365.
