Everton star earns debut & Chelsea forward rewarded: Gareth Southgate names England squad for March friendlies

England return to action next week in their final set of games ahead of Euro 2024.

The Three Lions will face off with Brazil on March 23 and Belgium on March 26. Both friendlies will be great tests for Gareth Southgate’s side as they prepare for this summer’s tournament in Germany. England are currently 10/3 with BetVictor to win Euro 2024.

Gareth Southgate names March England squad

Gareth Southgate announced his squad for the upcoming March friendlies on Thursday afternoon and there were a few surprises.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has earned a first call-up to the England squad for their friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

Branthwaite, a regular starter at under-21 level, has featured as the left-sided centre-back - a weak spot for England - and helped Everton keep eight clean sheets this season.

Elsewhere, Cole Palmer has been included in the England squad for the upcoming friendlies. Palmer won his first senior caps for England last November and after scoring 15 and assisting 11 in 36 games for Chelsea this term, is back in the England fold ahead of Euro 2024.
