At the end of a very long and important week for Liverpool FC comes the match that the whole city looks forward to the Merseyside derby .
Liverpool have had almost as many problems on the pitch as off it so far this season and Everton are only above their rivals on goal difference .
Fernando Torres lack of form has been at the heart of Liverpool’s problems and Roy Hodgson’s side have averaged just a goal a game in the Premier League . The international break will allow Torres to return from his adductor injury and Paul Konchelsky should return at the back for the Reds . However Liverpool’s most consistent player Dirk Kuyt is out for some time with an ankle injury and will be sorely missed .
For Everton , David Moyes will have to manage without Marouane Fellaini who suffered a hamstring injury while with Belgium and is waiting on confirmation regarding Phil Jagielka’s fitness .
Crucially however Everton talisman Tim Cahill is fit and will start up front with Yakubu .
Although Everton have not beaten Liverpool in the Premier League since September 2006 , this is surely a great opportunity at Goodison Park today .
Liverpool are a club in crisis and the on/off takeover of the club this week must have been a huge distraction for players and staff alike .
The game is unlikely to be a classic but Everton make most appeal at 13/8 with online bookmaker Bet365 .
The game could have very few goals and anyone considering a correct score bet or first goalscorer bet should also place it with Bet365 as this bookie refunds all correct score and first goalscorer stakes if the game ends with no goals .
