F1 British Grand Prix: Hamilton Wants To Deny Button First Home Win
Bookmakers are offering free bets to new customers on the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday 11th July.
Competing McLaren team mates, Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button would both love nothing more than winning their home, British Grand Prix.
Hamilton previously tasted success at Silverstone in 2008, an experience he rates as high as winning the World Championship itself, which he achieved in the same year driving for McLaren-Mercedes.
He told reporters this week: “The feeling of winning the British Grand Prix, your home grand prix, is unique, "It is almost as good as winning the world championship."
Silverstone officials are expecting a 120,000 crowd for the race and Button acknowledges that the British fans create one of the best occasions on the Grand Prix circuit.
He said: "I love the British Grand Prix, it has such an amazing atmosphere," Button added. "It’s not just because I’m British but there are a few races around the world that we go to where there is a very special atmosphere. Silverstone is one of them."
The two Brits currently top the Driver Standings, with two victories apiece. Hamilton leads with 127 points from Button’s 121 points.
Irish bookies, Boylesports are offering odds of 3/1 for Hamilton to gain his second British Grand Prix victory. Their 9/4 favourite is Sebastian Vettel, who returned to winnings way on Valencia’s street circuit last time.
Button is yet to make the podium in 11 years of trying and Boylesports think it will be tough for him again this year offering odds of 8/1.
