We are waiting for Jon Rahm to explode. With the Masters and the lush scenes of Augusta around the corner to look forward, the mercurial Spaniard, who is looking to get off the mark in 2022, will be itching to get into the winner’s circle before then.

Well, the World Golf Championships (Dell Technologies) gets underway this week, and there’s plenty of prestige associated with this one. You probably ought to know that the total purse is $12,000,000 (£9 million) so whoever wins it is in for a mega payday.

Justin Thomas to make Final appearance

There’s nothing to suggest that we couldn’t have an all-American final come Sunday. Of course, there are still plenty of hurdles to be overcome before that. Justin Thomas is coming off the back of a third-place finish at the Valspar Championship last week, and that will put a spring in his step.

The Austin course has seen some impressive records created over the years, including the largest margin of victory, which is held by Tiger Woods, who defeated Stephen Ames 9&8 in the 1st round in 2006, and Thomas could be at the centre of some thrilling storylines over the course of the week.

Thomas is in Group 6 along with Kevin Kisner, Marc Leishman and Luke List, which will make for intriguing viewing, but he could go deep in this tournament. You can get a price of 15/2 with bet365 for Thomas to reach the Final, and this could well be worth exploring further.

Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler to make an early impression

At this point, you will need to produce your best golf, otherwise, you will be found wanting, and you won’t progress further. Scottie Scheffler returns to the scene where he lost in the final 12 months ago against Billy Horschel, while Patrick Cantlay will hopefully being feel refreshed after missing the cut at the Players Championship.
