Harry Kane set to miss England’s meeting with Belgium

After a 1-0 defeat vs Brazil at Wembley on Saturday, England will no doubt be keen to bounce back in their final friendly clash of the March break.

The Three Lions are set to host Belgium on Tuesday evening and are currently 1/1 with bet365 to pick up the win.

Harry Kane leaves England squad

England will have to face Belgium without their all-time top goalscorer, Harry Kane.

Kane reported to St. George’s Park this past Tuesday with an ankle injury sustained with Bayern Munich before sitting out Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Brazil.

When asked after the Brazil clash for the latest on Harry Kane, Gareth Southgate confirmed the striker is set to return to Germany: “He’ll go back [to Bayern]. He won’t be fit for Tuesday.”

Ollie Watkins started up front vs Brazil in Kane’s absence but had a very quiet outing. However, Southgate was seemingly not too concerned with his side’s lack of attacking threat over the weekend:

“We were playing a top team, chances are going to be limited,” Southgate stated when asked about his side’s lack of threat. “We had the chances from set pieces and capitalising from one of them often makes the difference. I was really pleased with the players who went in.

“We need to know where we might head without Harry for a big match. Ollie did a good job, didn’t get a clear chance of goal he might want as a forward but a lot of his work was really good.”
