Heung-min Son sends message to Tottenham teammates

Tottenham will be without Heung-min Son for Friday’s meeting as he is linking up with South Korea for the 2023 Asia Cup.

Son scored his 12th league goal of the season as Spurs moved to within a point of fourth-placed Arsenal with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.

And now, Son hopes the likes of Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson will raise their game while he is away.

Son said: “I hope so more than anything, they are my family and my team-mates. I hope they can score as many goals as possible.

“I feel [it’s] like when Harry was here and he was missing some games with injuries. I felt like I needed to step up in previous years, I hope our players have this kind of feeling that they need to step up.

“In this situation, you grow as a player and a human being. Richy is doing a fantastic job, I hope he is hungry for more goals, also Deki [Kulusevski] and Brennan.

“I hope everybody who is playing attacking positions can score as many goals as possible and bring us to a better position. I wish it more than anything else.”
