Injured Aguero Out Of Switzerland Clash For Argentina
The Manchester City striker suffered a muscle tear in Argentina’s 3-2 Group F win over Nigeria on Wednesday night that saw him limp off the pitch at half-time, which was later diagnosed as a “first-degree muscle strain.”
The injury means Aguero will not take part in Argentina’s last 16 match against Switzerland on Tuesday in Sao Paulo, and further medicals will tell whether he will be fit to play in the remainder of the tournament.

Argentina team doctor, Daniel Martinez, told reporters: “We have all the resources available to progress as quickly as possible. He won’t be ready for the Switzerland game, and from there we’ll check his evolution day by day.”
Ezequiel Lavezzi was Aguero’s replacement in their clash with Nigeria in Porto Alegre, and could be manager Alejandro Sabella’s first choice to replace the striker.
Argentina’s top scorer Lionel Messi has so far lived up to the hype surrounding him by helping his side through to the last 16 with four crucial goals. A fine solo effort aginst Bosnia helped Argentina to a 2-1 victory, before a 25-yeard screamer in extra time sealed a 1-0 win over Iran during an otherwise frustrating encounter.
Two goals against Nigeria put Messi as joint top scorer with Thomas Muller and Neymar, and he is 5/2 to take the Golden Boot of the tournament with Bet365.
