The 2023 GRAMMYs, officially known as the 65th GRAMMY Awards, will be awarded at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena this Sunday. The event will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and streamed live and on-demand on Paramount+.

One of the four major annual American entertainment awards – alongside the Academy Awards (for films), the Emmy Awards (for television), and the Tony Awards (for theater) – the GRAMMYs are a major event for the music industry, fans, and punters.

This year Beyoncé has received the most nominations with nine. Kendrick Lamar follows with eight. Adele and Brandi Carlile have seven apiece. But the GRAMMYs consist of a remarkable 91 award categories – everything from Best Contemporary Christian Music Album to Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media – so nine nominations is not as outrageous as it may initially sound.

But the major awards and associated betting markets are Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and Song of the Year. This year, there is an exceptional chance three of these awards will return to British shores.

Adele and Harry Strong in Three Categories

Adele is 4/6 to net the Record of the Year award for her song ‘Easy on Me’. The track is from the artist’s fourth album, ‘30′. And that album is just 11/4 (top-priced at Betway) to collect the Album of the Year award.

‘Easy on Me’ is the even-money favourite to collect the Song of the Year award – it is a songwriter(s) award for a song only eligible if it was first released or if it first achieved prominence during the eligibility year.

If Adele comes away empty-handed, there is a good chance Harry Styles will have some silverware packed into his suitcase. The former One Direction star is 3/1 to win Album of the Year (with Harry’s House), 2/1 in the Record of the Year market, and 11/4 in the Song of the Year category with ‘As It Was’.

Italy’s Glam Rockers Can Upset American Rapper

With Beyonce also prominent in the betting of these three categories, it is difficult to pinpoint any betting value here. However, the Best New Artist of the Year award – described by organisers as a category that “recognizes an artist whose eligibility-year release(s) achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and notably impacted the musical landscape” – does have some value within it.

This is an award previously won by Adele – in 2009 – that has gone to a female performer for the past five years. Bookmakers believe that trend will continue, and they make American rapper, Latto, their 1/2 favourite.

But favourite backers have a problem. Latto has been nominated for several awards in the past – and she rarely collects one! A case in point is the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist. Here the 24-year-old failed to make the shortlist after being nominated.

2021 Eurovision Song Contest winner Måneskin performed better – the Italian glam rock band was amongst the shortlisted in ‘New Artist’ – and collected an award at the MTV bash.

Of course, Måneskin is an Italian act and that country’s record at the GRAMMYs is remarkable. Since 1998 Italy has had just 11 nominations but it has won six awards. That stat alone makes odds of 6/1 a tasty bet proposition.
