Tottenham dealt double injury blow

Monday evening may go down as one of the worst nights of the 2023/24 season for Tottenham.

Cristian Romero is now out for three matches after being shown a straight red card, while Destiny Udogie is also suspended for one match after being booked twice.

To compound Spurs’ woes, Ange Postecoglu was forced to make two changes before the second half as James Maddison and Micky van de Ven went off injured.

Maddison has been one of Spurs’ star players this term and with two defenders now suspended, losing Van de Ven is an even bigger blow.

Unfortunately for the north London outfit, Van de Ven looks set to be out until after the November international break.

Speaking about the duo post-Chelsea, Postecoglu said: “It’s too early but looking at Micky you’re thinking it’s a pretty significant one so you’d assume he’ll be out for a little while. Madders got a knock on the ankle and we’ll just have to assess him and see how it is.”
