James Maddison teases Alexander-Arnold

The England squad coming together, of course, means club rivals have linked up to train and play together. Two such players are James Maddison of Tottenham and Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool.

Tottenham and Liverpool played out a controversial clash at the end of last month, which saw Liverpool’s Luis Diaz have an onside goal ruled out thanks to a major VAR error.

A nine-man Liverpool went on to lose that game and, in turn, there has been calls for a replay: “There should have been solutions for it,” Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said in the aftermath. “Not as manager of Liverpool but more as a football person I think the only outcome should be a replay.

“It probably won’t happen, the argument is that it would open the gate for everyone to ask for it. I think this is unprecedented.”

Now, whilst on England duty, James Maddison has taken a shot at Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold over the game. A social media post by the Spurs midfielder showed the pair together at St. George’s Park after the squad joined up on Monday for matches against Australia and Italy.

And with a picture of Alexander-Arnold gesticulating towards Maddison, the Tottenham man wrote on Instagram: “Still asking for a replay!”
