Breece Hall Over 59.5 Rushing Yards
The Texans rank third in the league for passing yards allowed (164.3 per game) and 13th for rushing yards allowed (116.0), but they’re giving up 4.7 yards per carry (22nd in the NFL), which isn’t ideal. Last week, Houston edged past Indianapolis 23-20 but allowed 163 rushing yards on 26 carries.
This makes it essential for the Jets to rely on Breece Hall, who has recorded 111 carries for 428 yards this season. In their 25-22 loss to New England last week, Hall rushed 16 times for 80 yards.
Houston’s pass rush has been impressive, amassing 27 sacks over eight games, the third-highest in the NFL. To reduce the pressure on Aaron Rodgers, the Jets need to lean on Hall as their primary option in the backfield.
Joe Mixon Anytime Touchdown Scorer
We continue our Jets v Texans tips by focusing on Houston’s running back Joe Mixon, who’s enjoying a stellar season. In just five games, Mixon has amassed 503 rushing yards, 115 receiving yards, and six touchdowns.
We’re expecting another strong outing from Mixon, particularly as the Texans are grappling with key injuries. Wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins are both sidelined—Diggs with a season-ending knee injury and Collins (hamstring) still on IR.
Houston will likely rely heavily on Mixon, which should suit them well in this matchup. The Jets rank second in the league for passing yards allowed (161.1) but sit 17th for rushing yards allowed (125.8). New York has conceded 16 offensive touchdowns this season, ten of which were rushing, so we’re backing Mixon to find the end zone.
Mixon has scored in three consecutive games. Last week, he recorded 25 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s close win over Indianapolis.
Davante Adams Anytime Touchdown Scorer
As mentioned, Houston ranks third in the NFL for passing yards allowed. However, the Texans have conceded an alarming 16 receiving touchdowns across eight games this season, with a red-zone defence that ranks 30th in the league.
The Jets will need to rely on Breece Hall to help move the ball into the red zone, but once there, Aaron Rodgers will be looking for his receivers. This presents an excellent chance for Davante Adams to score his first touchdown in a Jets uniform.
Adams has caught just seven of his 15 targets in his two games with the Jets so far. New York traded for Adams to reunite him with Aaron Rodgers, and this duo will need to step up and demonstrate their value in a must-win clash against the Texans.
