Jose Mourinho eyeing shock return to Manchester United

Reports have emerged over the last 24 hours that claim Jose Mourinho is keen on making what would be a shocking return to Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford is in doubt after a lacklustre 2023/24 season combined with new ownership at the club, with Jose Mourinho currently priced at 16/1 with Betfair to be the next Man United manager.

Jose Mourinho set for Manchester United return?

Jose Mourinho was dismissed from his role as AS Roma manager last month, after a bad run of form that involved just one win in five Serie A matches and a Coppa Italia exit at the hands of city rivals Lazio last week.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, sources close to Mourinho say he feels he has ‘unfinished business’ after leaving Old Trafford in December 2018 and ‘has made it his mission’ to take charge again should the opportunity arise at some point in the future.

Mourinho is also said to be keen to work with the new regime at United. One source said: “His ambition is to return to United.

“He feels like he has unfinished business there after how it ended last time and he had made it his mission to go back.”

Despite his struggles in Manchester, Mourinho remains the most successful manager post-Sir Alex Ferguson, securing the most points - 81 in 2017/18 - and winning the League Cup and Europa League.
