Lisandro Martinez injury update

Lisandro Martinez was sidelined from September to December with a foot injury. He made a brief return in January before then suffering a knee issue in February.

Martinez’s latest issue was expected to keep the centre-back out until April. But he was called up to the Argentina squad for their friendlies this month.

Martinez was not involved as Argentina beat El Salvador 3-0 on Saturday. And now, the stopper has decided to return to the UK, where he will step up his training at Carrington ahead of the Brentford game.

Manchester United will no doubt be keen to have Martinez back available for their clash with the Bees this weekend, especially given injuries elsewhere in the squad.

Luke Shaw’s absence means Victor Lindelof has had to deputies at left-back on occasion of late, while both Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are dealing with knocks.
