Legatissimo Faces 10 Rivals In Investec Oaks

Qipco 1000 Guineas winner Legatissimo heads the field of eleven horses declared for the Investec Oaks at Epsom on Friday

Eleven horses have been declared for Friday’s Investec Oaks at Epsom with, as expected, Found, Wedding Vows and Local Time the only ones to be scratched from the mile and a half fillies’ Classic. Qipco 1000 Guineas winner Legatissimo heads the field and the daughter of Danehill Dancer will have the services of Ryan Moore who has chosen the David Watchman-trained filly in preference to Sir Michael Stoute’s Crystal Zvezda (our 8-1 ante-post tip) who will now be the mount of champion jockey Richard Hughes.

The draw has not been kind to Legatissim who will come from stall 1, a berth with a poor recent record in the race, while Crystal Zvezda will exit stall 8 in between outsider Belljeu (40-1 generally) and the well-backed Irish challenger Jack Naylor (7-1 Skybet and William Hill). Despite most bookmakers still having Legatissimo as their market leader, that position is now held by Crystal Zvezda with Paddy Power a standout offer of 7-2 about Ryan Moore’s mount, a shade longer than the 10-3 available about the Stoute runner.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained pair of Diamondsandrubies and Together Forever come next in the betting at 9-1 (Paddy Power) and 11-1 (Coral) respectively with recent impressive Goodwood scorer Lady of Dubai a general 12-1 chance with most firms. Of the John Gosden pair the betting favours Jazzi Top (Frankie Dettori’s mount) at 14-1 with Boylesports, Betvictor and William Hill over stablemate Star Of Seville who can be backed at two points bigger with Paddy Power and Betvictor.

The only French challenger, Al Naamah, is available at a standout 20-1 with Betvictor and the field is competed by Ballydoyle’s third-string and possible pacemaker Qualify, an 80-1 chance with Racebets.
