Liverpool & Brighton learn potential opponents as Europa League draw made

The knockout play-off round of the Europa League was drawn today at a ceremony in Switzerland.

Runners-up from each of the eight Europa League groups were paired up for a match-up against a team demoted from the Champions League.

All four British clubs in the competition managed to top their groups. West Ham edged Freiburg, Brighton leapfrogged Marseille late on in their final game and Rangers pulled off a stunning win at Real Betis to secure their spot in the last-16.

Liverpool, meanwhile, dominated their group and are the current favourites at 9/4 with bet365 to go on and win the competition.

As a result of the British sides all doing well, they were not a part of today’s draw but they did get an idea of who they could end up facing in the last-16 in March.

The full Europa League knockout play-off round is as follows:

  • Feyenoord v Roma
  • AC Milan v Rennes
  • Lens v Freiburg
  • Young Boys v Sporting Lisbon
  • Benfica vs Toulouse
  • Braga vs Qarabağ
  • Shakhtar Donetsk vs Marseille
  • Galatasaray v Sparta Prague
